Cairns – QSO Returns

The Queensland Symphony Orchestra proudly returns to Cairns with 33 talented musicians presenting two concerts. Wednesday evening will showcase symphonic favourites and the Thursday morning concert is educational and directed towards informing students.

Conductor Jessica Cottis will make her first appearance in Cairns leading the Orchestra. A charismatic figure on the podium Jessica brings dynamism, intensity and clarity of vision to all her performances. The young British-Australian is currently Assistant Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor for orchestras including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic and London Philharmonic.

In addition to the evening concert, the QSO presents an education concert in the Civic Theatre, also featuring the Yarrabah Brass Band and Cairns students performing alongside QSO musicians for Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. In the lead up, QSO musicians will conduct workshops at five Cairns schools and in Yarrabah.
