Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra takes to the stage in their final performance for 2014 in a celebration of much loved Russian works. You will first be transported into a fairy tale world with Lyadov’s most popular orchestral work The Enchanted Lake. From delicate and subtle the Orchestra launches into the energetic dance movement from the ballet The Red Poppy and Glière’s best-known work the Russian Sailor Dance. The performance will end with Tchaikovsky’s spectacular symphony with its powerful and vibrant emotions, which Tchaikovsky has described himself as ‘better than anything I’ve done so far’ – Symphony no.4.
The Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra consists of approximately 90 of the most talented young instrumentalists in Queensland under the leadership of Michael Morgan. The orchestra performs a regular program of orchestral, choral and operatic works with distinguished guest conductors and soloists that have included Piers Lane, John Curro MBE AM, Colin Metters, Nicholas Braithwaite and Sir Neville Marriner.
