Sanctuary is calm, solitude, contemplation, refuge, asylum, contentedness, our loved ones … perhaps even a sense of permanence.

Music can evoke our places of refuge, of meditation, or create an unguarded place away from the rest of life for song, dance and laughter – a sanctuary of happiness.

Devised in collaboration with Artistic Director Katie Noonan and presented with Queensland Music Festival, this emotional concert’s highlight is a world premiere by Australian composer Joe Chindamo (commissioned by Andrew and Renata Kaldor) featuring musicians Diana Doherty and Alexandre Oguey.

A signature event in the Queensland Music Festival, Sanctuary also includes Beethoven’s “Song of Thanksgiving” from Quartet Op.132, Brooke Green’s heart-wrenching Reza Barati, Telemann’s humorous concerto about frogs, and music by Queenslander Connor D’Netto.
