Joseph HAYDN – Piano Trio in D Major Hob.XV:16
Johannes BRAHMS – Sonata for Piano and Cello in F Major Op. 99
Elena FIRSOVA – Meditation in a Japanese Garden
Carl VINE – Sonata for Flute and Piano
The final concert of our 2017 Series brings together some of the greatest contrasts of our repertoire, from some of our earliest music through to some of our most recent. Haydn’s cheerful Piano Trio in D Major opens the concert with bright themes and witty interaction between the instruments, after which Brahms’ Sonata for Piano and Cello adds grandeur and refinement. Russian composer Elena Firsova’s mysterious and atmospheric Meditation in a Japanese Garden and Australian composer Carl Vine’s punchy Sonata for Flute Piano bring the concert into the 20th Century.
