Ecstasy: Baroque and Beyond

https://www.artmuseum.uq.edu.au/current-exhibitions

Well since Baroque is our thing, we won’t be going beyond, no thank you! But we will try to reflect the theme with music from the seventeenth century in stylus phantasticus, an ecstatic and rhapsodic style of the time before Bach, Mozart and co. introduced their clear, ordered structures. It’s mostly Italian music, but there will also be music by one of our favourite original English geniuses, William Lawes, and also a rare performance of one of Biber’s “Mysteries of the Rosary” sonatas.

Hope to see you there!
