Australia’s biggest French festival – Le Festival – has released its full programme, promising a weekend in Brisbane of food, wine and French culture like no other.

This year’s festival, from Friday 7 – Sunday 9 July 2017 in South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt, will see the return of festival favourites as well as a host of new French-inspired acts.

Cigany Weaver

Formed out of a love of Django Reinhardt, Sigourney Weaver and Red Wine, Cigány Weaver are one the newest, and most exciting Gypsy Jazz acts in Australia. Having recently performed at Australia’s premier Gypsy Jazz Festival ‘OzManouche’ and the Woodford Folk Festival, they have captivated audiences with their unique performances, establishing an expansive following.
Cigány Weaver create sounds reminiscent of Jazz Manouche, Traditional Romani music to contemporaries such as Bjork. Their virtuosic live performances invoke an array of toe-tapping, from the subtle tap to the carefree exuberant stomp of the dance floor.
“Small orchestra with a big sound.”
Conducted by intrepid Lachlan Snow, the Amadeus Orchestra is presently comprised of about 26 players – a mini symphony orchestra.
They perform a wide range of music, focusing mainly on popular classics, and aspire to a high degree of excellence. They delight in entertaining their audiences with enjoyable and fun concerts.

The quartet performances, are like a Soundtrack to the films “Chocolat” or “Midnight in Paris”. A performance filled with Vibrant vocals and swinging rhythms, with a dash of Django Reinhart’s instrumental tunes.
They play with Gyspy in their hearts and “Hot Club” in their heads.
Mia, Tim & Sam O’Brien with Helen Svoboda on double bass are the O’Brien quartet and capture the swing of the 30’s & 40’s with an uplifting, and expressive performance.
