How do we create melodies and words that will stay in people’s heads? Mark will help demystify the process. In this workshop Mark will play a few songs and discuss some basic ground rules in relation to song structure and lyric creation. There are techniques that he and other songwriters use to craft their work.

Mark Cryle (guitar/ vocals) has been acclaimed by music journalists as one of Australia’s leading songwriters. Carmel Newman has played classical violin since she was three and sings like an angel – a fallen angel perhaps, but an angel nonetheless. In August 2015 Mark and Carmel recorded their first duo CD – The Taste of the Rain – a rich blend of traditional Celtic tunes and songs blended with Mark’s highly-acclaimed song writing.
