Rebecca Wright and Donald McKay & Sadie and Jay – Presented by The Bug

Rebecca and Donald’s music has been likened to that of a good Scotch whisky: delightfully smooth, full of character and highly addictive. With voices that can instantly transport you to another place and time, Donald’s traditional songs from his native Scotland are beautifully complemented by Rebecca’s insightful Australian originals. Together they have released two albums, “Over Burns and Braes” and “Joys that never weary”, and have toured in the UK and New Zealand. Accompanied by requinto, cello, acoustic guitar and bodhran, their music will bring you back to the heart of folk.

Sadie & Jay’s contemporary and original folk music leans to the alternative with a tinge of blues and roots and occasional theatrics! Jay plays guitars, bouzouki, banjo and mandolin while Sadie plays electric and double bass.. They sing captivating songs blending vocals of rare calibre with an evocative back-drop of intricate finger style playing. Both musicians and entertainers, Sadie & Jay perform intimate, expressive and resonant music.

Since first meeting at the BUG some four years ago now, Sadie and Jay have released their first original album “Curious” (launched at the BUG), won several song writing awards, played many Qld/NSW venues and festivals and most recently they have performed oversea’s at The Auckland Folk Festival and they toured the UK.

Tonight at the BUG Sadie and Jay will be joined by the wonderful Suzanne Hibbs on percussion.
