In this exciting program, the Streeton Trio explores the music of four
very innovative composers from four different continents; Europe, North
America, Asia and Australia.

Beginning with Robert Schumann’s groundbreaking and romantic
Piano Trio No.1, to a new commission from the talented young Australian
composer Jack Symonds, to the serene journey through a Japanese
garden by Toru Takemitsu, to the jazz-inspired fun of
Give Me Phoenix Wings to Fly by Canadian Kelly-Marie Murphy, this program explores four very different and unique voices.

The Streeton Trio was formed in 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, from three
of Australia’s leading young musicians, including winner of the 2010
Empire Theatres Foundation Brian Boak Outstanding Performer Bursary,
Martin Smith.

The trio is the first Australian ensemble to be selected for
the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy, where it has been
in residence since 2010.

Currently based in Berlin, the trio has studied intensively with the world’s leading chamber musicians (Gabor Takacs-Nágy, Hatto Beyerle, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Johannes Meissl, Ferenc Rados, Erich Höbarth, Philippe Graffin, Pascal Devoyon, Mihaela Martin) and is highly in demand across Europe, UK, Scandinavia, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
