The Juliet Letters is a song cycle written in the 1990s by Elvis Costello and the Brodsky Quartet. See Dean Stevenson perform this timeless album.

Dean Stevenson is an outstanding new voice, with his rich music standing with the greatest talent of this generation. At Byron Theatre this October, accompanied by string quartet, the Arco Set, he will perform Elvis Costello’s timeless work, The Juliet Letters. Taking nods from the original, and effortlessly weaving a newness into it, this work remains powerful modern, and romantic, and not without with a bee sting from a bee the size of a horse. It’s the kind of music that remains in your muscles for years and is not to be missed.

Costello and the Brodsky Quartet were inspired to pen The Juliet Letters, after discovering a professor in Verona was responding to letters written to Shakespeare’s Juliet Capulet. The original songs tell stories of love, joy, betrayal and death, written by both old and young, female and male characters in the form of letters; love letters, suicide notes, junk mail and more, to Shakespeare’s tragic heroine.
