Anna (16) has being playing the violin since she was just 6 years old, after holding a guitar up to her chin and bowing it with a plastic drum stick. She began classically trained until she was introduced to the world of folk music, which brought her spirit to life. This new collection of tunes and songs which she first discovered just 4 years ago opened up so many new opportunities, which were broadened even further when she moved to the UK for 2 years, getting to travel the Celtic countries and experience the music which she loved so much with the people who’s it originally was. Last year, she was given the privilege to be a finalist for the Folk Alliance Australia Young Performer of the Year Award, performing at the finals at the National Folk Festival in Canberra in April. From this experience she gained the opportunity to perform at the National Celtic Festival in Portarlington 2013. She also completed two diplomas in Music and Music business and is following through into a Bachelor of Music through Central Queensland University this year. She is continuing to expand her forever growing repertoire of music including tunes and songs which she has written herself. Jordan (19) is a guitarist and a singer/songwriter based on the Sunshine Coast. He performs original material which is a tasteful combination of jazz, folk and rock. He has been playing music since before he can remember and has developed his style throughout his musical journey, in which he has learnt guitar, singing, and also trumpet. He was selected for extra-curricular music program during the time he spent at school. He has also been a member of various concert bands and jazz ensembles. Last year, he successfully completed two diplomas in Music and Music Business and is now following through to study a Bachelor of Music with Central Queensland University. He continues to perform around the Sunshine Coast at many reputable venues. He is also expanding his repertoire of original music and expanding his genres and styles of music to help his music grow in complexity and diversity. Together, these two musicians have combined as a duo, performing many different styles of music including many original pieces, both sung and instrumental, with colourful use of harmonies and particular attention on their unique arrangements. Combining Anna’s interest in traditional music and Jordan’s unique style of folk and jazz, they create a unique combination of genres and styles which is unique and uplifting.
