One of the most respected ensembles in existence today, I Musici is Italy’s oldest continuously active chamber group.
At their first performance in Rome in 1952, I Musici broke all the rules, playing baroque concerti with a tight knit ensemble of just twelve players and no conductor. A year later, their historic first recording of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons introduced 18th century Italian music to the world. This recording went on to sell over 25 million copies, making The Four Seasons one of the most famous compositions in the entire musical repertoire.
As part of the 2015 Queensland Music Festival, QPAC is delighted to welcome Italy’s legendary baroque string ensemble in a Brisbane-exclusive performance of vibrant and virtuosic music-making. Paying homage to their heritage with masterworks by Italian composers, this unforgettable concert will culminate with their superlative interpretation of Vivaldi’s magnificent The Four Seasons – unmatched for its vigour, dynamism, sensitivity and sheer muscular energy.
