BANGALOW MUSIC FESTIVAL

As Southern Cross Soloists celebrate our 20-year anniversary, it is extraordinary to take a step back to consider what the company has accomplished in that time. Establishing our own music festival may seem like a tall order for any small chamber music ensemble. But here we are in the festival’s 14th year, more inspired than ever to continue our journey as trailblazers in the Australian chamber music landscape.

This year’s Bangalow Music Festival explores the connections between the past and present, while celebrating the promise of a bright future. We will be commemorating great composers, many of whom are also having anniversaries this year. Juxtaposed against this will be the works of many contemporary composers who learnt their craft from studying these masters and will, in turn, become masters themselves in 50 to 100 years’ time. It is fascinating to explore the journey classical music has taken over time.

We are delighted to present some of the greatest Australian artists of our generation with Piers Lane, Karin Schaupp, Daniel De Borah and William Barton alongside new soloists at the dawn of their careers Alexandra Flood, the Orava Quartet, Alex Raineri, Ashley Smith and our 2015 Fellowship Quartet. The 2015 festival also features the superb artistry of Alexander Lewis, Victoria Sayles, Emma Sholl, members of Southern Cross Soloists and the uproarious charm of leading UK conductor, Rainer Hersch.

We invite you to join us on this journey of discovery in the beautiful hinterland village of Bangalow. Every year at Bangalow feels like a celebration and this year is certainly a great one to celebrate along with us!
