Evoking visions of Parisian laneways, South American sensuality, and the unbridled joy of European folk-music, Estampa delivers an energetic, internationally-inspired performance. Combining a unique blend of violin, voice, piano accordion and double bass, this group of fiery musicians is sure to appeal to a diverse and eager-to-dance audience.

Violinist Rebecca Karlen has worked as a musician and strings teacher in both her hometown of Stockholm and in Brisbane. She performs regularly with the Queensland Pops Orchestra, the Queensland Session Orchestra and also for several different music agencies as well as with artists such as John Rowles, Sarah Blasko, Rhonda Burchmore, Guy Sebastian, Mirusia, Ian Cooper and The Whitlams.

Helen Svododa, the bassist and composer for Estampa is actively involved in the Brisbane music scene, having performed with a range of musicians including Kristin Berardi, John Hoffman and Steve Newcomb. Helen also leads a number of her own projects with a primary focus on original music and hopes to bring her experience back home to Finland.

John Reeves was born in the UK, complementing the diversity of Estampa. He has enjoyed a rich and varied musical life centered around Jazz piano, but also taking lengthy dips in to other musics, including Traditional African. More recently John has studied the Piano Accordion performing various European folk music and Brazilian genres.

Expect an eclectic experience that will leave you feeling like you’ve entered a 1930s’ Parisian jazz club or the streets of Sao Paulo.
