2. outside the walls or boundaries, as of a city or town or a university: extramural teaching; an extramural church.

In 2015 Kupka’s Piano present another four part concert series at the Judy. In these concerts, Kupka steps outside the wall, to take a good look at themselves, their world, and their place in all of space and time. From the confines of The Human Detained to the infinite expanse of Outer Sounds, the ensemble invites audiences to experience contemporary music from the outside in.

FRIDAY 10 APRIL
Shivering, Confined, Expiring feat. MakeShift Dance Collective

Kupka’s Piano performs scintillating and fantastical works by young composers from Finland, America and France. This concert also features the preview showing of a collaborative project with MakeShift Dance Collective that includes world premieres of new works by young Brisbane composers Steve Newcomb, Michael Matheison-Sandars and Samantha Wolf.

Performances of the works will be interspersed by conversations with the musicians, dancers and composers about the evolution of this first stage of the project, which will be presented in its final form as The Human Detained this October (see below).
