Experience one of the world’s finest orchestras led by Russia’s greatest living conductor.

The London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of its Principal Conductor, maestro Valery Gergiev, commences its highly anticipated tour to Australia with a debut performance at the Queensland Performing Art Centre.

QPAC welcomes the LSO as part of its ongoing program of international orchestras, which gives Brisbane audiences the opportunity to experience the skill and artistry of the greatest ensembles live.

With the LSO comes the exceptionally talented pianist Denis Matsuev playing music from the passionate cultural heart of Russia.

The program is a roller-coaster ride through the emotions. First up, love, as piano powerhouse Matsuev performs Rachmaninov’s overwhelmingly romantic Piano Concerto No. 2, most famous as the theme to the 1945 movie Brief Encounter.

Then a maelstrom of emotions, from hate, fear and anger to sorrow and consolation, as Shostakovich paints a vicious and thrilling portrait of Joseph Stalin in his Tenth Symphony.
