Brisbane Symphony Orchestra is finding out whether elephants can dance and if the wolf really did eat the duck, with the help of all the instruments in the orchestra, each one show-cased by Queensland composer Sean O’Boyle in his delightful and witty Hello to the Orchestra.
The program includes Stravinsky’s tongue-in-cheek Circus Polka (written for a young elephant – actually 50 young elephants); Prokofiev’s much loved story of Peter and the Wolf narrated by Brisbane’s own Jason Barry Smith; and Sean O’Boyle’s Hello to the Orchestra, which features snapshot concertos for every one of our instruments.
This is a concert designed to enchant children of all ages!
