‘Herein is enshrined the soul of…’ and then Elgar leaves off the dedication of his Violin Concerto, an achingly poignant love-poem to an unattainable woman.
This rare opportunity for Brisbane to experience Pinchas Zukerman live is prefaced by Sibelius’ final symphony, conducted by young Briton Rory Macdonald who shot to prominence last year in acclaimed performances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
