The Best of British concerts unfurl with all the pomp and pageantry of London’s legendary Last Night of the Proms concerts which inspired them. This year’s concert highlight is the newly commissioned Proms Overture by Graham Lloyd containing these iconic English tunes: Winchester Cathedral, A Scottish Solider, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, I’m Henry the Eighth I Am, London Bridge is Falling Down, Right Said Fred, and Holst‘s Jupiter / I Vow to Thee, My Country.

Soprano Elizabeth Lewis (performing Down by the Salley GardensHandel‘s Where E’re You Walk and Rule Britannia) and bass-baritone Sam Hartley (performing Ombra Mai Fu, Skye Boat Song and Jerusalem) are both rising stars in the Australian operatic firmament and will together sing How Could I Ever Know from Secret Garden and the very comical Song That Goes Like Thisfrom Spamalot.

This is a show that ticks all the boxes: rousing popular music, pipers, Irish dancers and a male choir (performing Men of Harlech), a 140 voice strong choir (performing an acapella arrangement of Fields of Gold), along with opera and theatre standards, a lively audience, and a charismatic conductor in the form of maestro Patrick Pickett.
