The Impromptu Cooperative With the Poachers winding down their very relaxed schedule of two gigs per year down to no gigs during 2015, Cathy Bell found herself at a loose end and a little bored. She rang Penny Boys (also of the Poachers) with ‘I know this sounds crazy but…’. But Penny was excited to rehearse some songs with vocal powerhouse Dan Grant (formerly of rock band Doubting Thomas and the rootsy Jeremiah). Not wanting to be left out of the fun, Andrew Heath then came on board to try his hand at some mandolin and of course, to revisit some of the sublime guitar playing that so characterised the Poachers. So there you go, old names, old faces, some old songs but some brand new sounds too in an unpredictable, compelling package.
