Stradbroke Chamber Music Festival

We’re thrilled that Cyril Garac, the most highly regarded tango violinist in Europe today, is coming to join bandoneon player Maggie Ferguson and the other festival performers in a Saturday-evening ‘Tango!’ concert at the Surf Club. As well, Cyril will play at the opening and closing concerts in pieces by Chausson, Prokofiev, Ravel and Hankinson.

Also not to be missed is the Saturday-morning ‘Bach and Birdsong’ concert of solo Bach pieces at the Point Lookout Hall, preceded by coffee and muffins (served at the hall) from the island’s famed Cylinder Beach baristas.

The festival climaxes with the premiere of a specially commissioned island-themed composition for piano and string quartet by Berlin-based composer Paul Hankinson.
